I fell in love with Dawn McVey’s color combo this week and absolutely had to play along! The colors were Moss/Celery, Cream, Bright Pink and Dark Red. The only thing I changed was the cream to just plain white, it just seemed to work better with these colors — pops off of the card a bit more!

I also have been seeing these PAPER ROSES on a few people’s creations and needed to figure out how to do it myself! Here is how I did it:

1. On a small piece of scrap paper either draw (lightly) a spiral & cut OR just cut out a spiral

– the larger the spiral, the larger the rose (makes sense right?! hehe)

2. Tightly roll the end of the spiral inward.

3. Once you get all the way to the center, let the spirals loosen slightly until your rose is as open or closed as you like.

4. I used a small piece of adhesive to adhere the final end to the rose and then used glue to adhere it to my card (a glue dot would be perfect to hold the rose together!)

You will find that you will need to play with your roses to get them exactly the way you like them, but they are worth the try! So beautiful. I also sponged the edges with ink since the roses were white and I wanted them to pop off the card a bit more. Note: I suggest you do this before you roll it in. Another cute idea would be to dip it in glue after rolling it up and then dipping it into some glitter, gotta try that one!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

***Don’t forget to enter to win some great BLOG CANDY – Scroll down a couple posts :)

In the mood to scrap but so little time… so when I saw Kristina Werner’s Color Inspiration I was (for lack of a better word) INSPIRED! The colors were perfect for a quick, simple and beautiful card. I have seen people creating cards with a single stamp in a grid and always wanted to use that style. So here it is!

Colors Used:Cranberry, Orange, Buttercup, Sweet Leaf, and Dutch Blue

There are rhinestones on the heads of the butterflies and the Merci is up on foam squares for added dimension. Just loving all of the color that is just popping off the white :)

  • Scrap or Dare 11

This week please feel free to simply post a link to your project in the comments and next week I will have Mr. Linky up and running :)

When I sat down to create with these colors, I thought… OH NO! I dont think I have any gray and definitely not that bright purple!!! But when I pulled out my purple cardstock, far in the back to my surprise, I found the bright purple that almost matches the photo exactly! I can’t tell you how excited I was! I was out of gray so I used gray felt :) Hope you like it! I am definitely using this combo again this week (now that I know I have the colors at hand!) because I just started a new job and the lady that has been training me works really hard… so I thought I would make her a nice card to give her on Friday, as a thank you. Also… purple is her favorite color!

Stamps Used: CTMH– Intrinsic Backgrounds and Life’s Creation
    Accessories: Felt and Buttons!

I used a small embellishment jar lid to trace the scallop onto the felt and then cut it out… super easy! The heart is cut free hand and all buttons are sewn onto the paper to save adhesive :) I will probably take some new and better photos of the card tomorrow to replace these, but couldnt wait to post (and seriously… there is no taking a good photo here at night!).

    Happy creating!
