Today I decided to bake some fun cupcakes for our pastor’s little girl’s birthday! I wanted something fun and wild just like her — tie dye was perfect and she loved ‘em!

I started by mixing box of white cake mix and dividing the batter into four bowls; I then dyed each bowl of batter a nice bright color (blue, purple, green and pink!). Next I put a small amount  into each of the 24 cupcake liners, layering over each color. With the layer step, do one color at a time and start very small so that you dont run out of batter before all 24 cups get some — you can always add more if you have some left over! Once the cups were filled, I used a butter knife to swirl through the batter in each cup to intermix the colors (a.k.a. tie dye). I limited myself to a quick swirl around the cup just so that the colors wouldn’t get too mixed — but you can do it however much you like. I baked them for 18 minutes at 325 and they came out perfectly! The cupcakes were topped with some yummy whipped strawberry frosting and sprinkles just for fun…
