Garden Fresh: Rustic Jar Tags

This week my ever so talented Mother in law asked me to create some tags for her Homemade Marinara Sauce that she made as gifts. These were simple, fairly easy and turned out just as I wanted!

I simply used some kraft cardstock to die cut some 2.5 inch scalloped circles (using the Spellbinders Nestabilities and the Cuttlebug) and then I ran them all through the bug again using the Swiss Dots embossing folder. Next we figured out what she wanted the tags to say and I typed ‘em all up in Illustrator (tip: using 2 fonts adds interest!), printed ‘em up and die cut ‘em using the circle Nestabilities.

The feel that I was going for was rustic Italian. I used the Giga Guidelines stamp set from Papertrey Ink for the background image. Using Honey, Garden Green and Cranberry inks from CTMH, I did a second generation stamp and then lightly tapped the stamp over the ink pad for the spongey look. It worked out perfectly! Be sure that if you try out this technique, you play with it on some scraps to get a feel for how much you want to tap it on the ink pad. Some colors are lighter and some are darker so you may have to work a bit to find the right consistency! These labels are going to look just lovely tied around the mason jar lids with some matching ribbons!

Let Them Eat Cake!

This week’s Pile It On challenge is to use some kind of pastry on your project. I immediately knew exactly what I would use for my “pastry.” The cupcake and stand image was a downloadable file from the Cutting Cafe, a past PIO Sponsor, called All About Cupcakes. I LOVE the cute stands in this file and was waiting for the perfect use for them! I wanted these cards to be more elegant than usual when it comes to cupcakes. I hope that I was able to achieve that! I personally think they are lovely :)

Here are all of the challenges that I used for these cards:

This adorable card is not only my very first circle card but it is my very first card created as a Pile It On DESIGN TEAM MEMBER! Yes, you heard me correctly, I am part of a Design Team and this week marks the first week out of a 6 month commitment. I can not even begin to express how excited I am to have been chosen as part of their team (their very first team, to be exact!) and I can not wait to see what these next 6 months bring through it all. For those of you who are new to the Pile It On challenge, let me fill you in on all of the fun! Each week, Dalis or Vicky (owners) will challenge us crafty ladies to create a project in a specific way or using a specific embellishment or technique, etc. There is just one more very important part to this challenge… you MUST “pile it on!” On top of this challenge you will have to use at least one more challenge from another challenge site. This makes creating fun and exciting… seriously, it really makes me think outside of the box and I love it! Everyone is welcome to play along and then post their work to share with the rest of us — lots of inspiration!
